Product Overview
Precise conversion from point light sources to uniform surface light sources, creating superior optical performance in professional spaces.
MASON® light diffusing sheets are designed to enhance the quality of commercial lighting. Through the precisely controlled microstructure diffusion layer, effectively mitigating glare and hot spots caused by LED point light sources, achieving >90% brightness uniformity on the surface. We are committed to providing stable and reliable light optimization solutions for high-end commercial lighting, architectural interiors, and professional display equipment.
Core Optical Principles and Technology Positioning
Working principle:
Diffusing sheets are commonly used in direct-lit backlight systems. The LED light source is placed at a distance behind the sheets. After the light is incident, it undergoes multiple scattering and refractions through the microstructure inside and the surface of the sheet, transforming the discrete point light source into the uniform and soft surface light source.
Core values:
- Soften the light: Effectively reducing glare from LED beads and improving visual comfort.
- Brightness uniformity: Reducing the appearance of “zebra stripes” or localized hot spots.
- Enhanced visual presentation: Creating a clean and soft lighting environment where “the light is visible but the lamp is not”.
Technical focus: Light management, not structure
It should be clarified that the core function of the diffusing sheet is light diffusion, and its surface hardness is consistent with the inherent characteristics of the selected materials,not structural.
- Material hardness: Scratch resistance depends on the physical properties of the selected PMMA (acrylic) or PC (polycarbonate) sheet.
- Specialized division of work: In optical systems, the need for wear and scratch resistance is usually met by the outermost protective panel (such as glass or hardened acrylic), while the diffusing sheet focuses on achieving the desired optical effect.

Main differences and selection guide |
|
Core optical performance |
|||
| Light transmittance | 90% – 92% | 88% – 90% |
Acrylic sheets have nice light transmittance and high light efficiency. |
|
Haze |
86% – 92% | 84% – 90% | Both methods achieve excellent uniformity, with values adjustable as needed. |
| Physical and safety characteristics |
|
||
|
Inherent surface hardness of sheet |
Mohs hardness 2H | Mohs hardness 2H | Both have similar hardness; avoid scratching with hard objects. |
| Flame retardant grade | HB | UL 94 V-0 |
PC sheets have excellent flame-retardant properties and are suitable for use in fire-resistant environments |
|
Impact resistance |
Moderate | 8-10 times that of common acrylic sheet | PC sheets have high toughness and impact resistance, suitable for environments with high foot traffic or high risk of collisions. |
|
Environmental adaptability |
|||
|
Continuous operating temperature |
Up to 80°C | Up to 125°C |
PC sheets have nice high-temperature resistance and are suitable for environments with high heat generation or high temperatures. |
| Weather resistance (UV protection) | Standard grade | Good, optional UV protective coating |
PC sheets are more suitable for outdoor or strong light environments and have better resistance to yellowing. |
|
Typical application scenarios |
Indoor office lighting, Shopping mall indoor light boxes Cost-effective bulk projects | Public facilities such as vehicles, hospitals and schools;
Durable outdoor advertising light boxes; Interior decoration for buildings with flame-retardant requirements. |
Acrylic sheet: Suitable for indoor scenarios where optical performance and cost are important. PC sheet: Suitable for environments with high requirements for safety, durability, and reliability. |
Professional Application Scenarios and Main Technologies
1. Commercial space lighting (such as offices and hotels)
- Recommended product: MASON® light diffusing acrylic sheet.
- Technical points: Optimizing the distance between the light source and the sheet (usually 50-100mm) to achieve good uniformity and light efficiency, while controlling energy consumption.
2.Public transportation and public facilities (such as subways and hospitals)
- Recommended product: MASON® light diffusing PC sheet.
- Technical points: Making its V-0 flame retardant grade and high impact resistance to meet safety standards. The effects of vibration and temperature variations must be considered during installation.
3.High-end retail and brand display
- Solution: The composite structure of ” Diffusing acrylic sheet + outer protective glass” can be adopted, which balances good optical performance and surface wear resistance.
Quality Assurance and Technical Support
- Precision manufacturing process: Optical-grade raw materials are used, and the thickness tolerance (±0.1mm) is controlled by the fully automated production line to ensure product consistency.
- Optical design support: Providing optical solution suggestions and light simulation services to optimize the structural design of lighting fixtures.
