Moth-eye anti-reflective acrylic sheet works through a nanoscale surface structure inspired by the eye structure of moths.

The acrylic surface is engineered with a dense array of nanoscale conical structures. These microstructures help create a gradual transition in refractive index from air to the acrylic substrate. As a result, reflected light is reduced more effectively than with regular acrylic surfaces.

This is different from conventional chemical coating methods that depend mainly on deposited optical layers. In the moth-eye approach, the anti-reflective performance comes primarily from the physical surface structure itself, which helps reduce concerns about coating peeling in comparison with traditional coated solutions.

However, they are designed for different optical goals and different viewing conditions. Anti-glare acrylic mainly reduces harsh glare through surface diffusion, while moth-eye anti-reflective acrylic is designed to reduce visible surface reflection while keeping the viewing panel more visually unobtrusive.
